Buying and SellingEnergetic Shifts in Real EstateFlipper Fails February 3, 2026

You. Are. NOT. Them.

“Stop Copying Someone Else’s Life — You’re Taking a Different Test”

I once read something that stuck with me:
Life is like a difficult exam, and most people fail because they’re too busy trying to copy someone else… not realizing everyone has a different test paper.

The older I get — and the more people I help buy and sell homes — the more I realize how true that is.

And honestly?
It explains a lot about real estate.

The Trap of Wanting What Everyone Else Wants

Somewhere along the way, people started believing there’s only one “right” way to live:

  • live in that neighborhood
  • buy in that zip code
  • get a home that looks like that Instagram feed
  • surround yourself with people “just like you”
  • buy new instead of “used”
  • don’t be the outlier
  • don’t pick the house with personality
  • don’t be different

So, what happens?
People begin shopping for a life rather than a home.

They forget who they are.
They forget what they actually need.
They forget what makes them happy.
They chase someone else’s version of success — someone else’s test paper.

And then they wonder why nothing feels quite right.

Your Life Isn’t Supposed to Look Like Anyone Else’s

You’re not supposed to have the same home as your friends.
Or your parents.
Or your coworkers.
Or that influencer with perfect natural lighting in every room.

Your life isn’t a duplicate.
Your preferences aren’t a mistake.
Your timeline isn’t late.
Your dream isn’t wrong.

You don’t have to live in the “best” neighborhood.
You only have to live in the one that feels like you.

Being different isn’t a flaw.
It’s the beauty of life.

Every buyer I’ve ever worked with is unique:

  • different budgets
  • different priorities
  • different comfort levels
  • different energies
  • different lifestyles
  • different values

Why on earth would the same house, in the same area, with the same look, fit everyone?

It wouldn’t.

The Comparison Game Is the Fastest Way to Lose Yourself

I see buyers compromise on things they love because:

“It’s not the area everyone else is buying in.”
“My friends said that neighborhood is only okay.”
“My coworker said new builds are better.”
“Everyone is buying modern homes right now.”
“I should want what they want… right?”

No.
Not right.
Not even close.

Comparison makes people forget their actual preferences.
Comparison convinces people to buy houses that match their ego, not their life.

And here’s the energetic truth:

Comparison creates confusion.
Clarity comes from knowing yourself.

Real Estate Becomes Peaceful When You Choose YOU

Some of the happiest homeowners I’ve ever worked with were people who made beautifully unconventional choices:

  • the person who bought the older home because it had soul
  • the person who picked the quieter neighborhood instead of the trendier one
  • the person who bought by the park instead of the nightlife
  • the person who bought smaller because they didn’t want to clean more
  • the person who bought bigger because they wanted space to breathe
  • the person who bought a home others told them “didn’t make sense” — but did for them

These clients are thrilled.
Because they weren’t copying anyone.

They were choosing alignment over approval.

**Energetic Shift in Real Estate Truth:

“You’re Allowed to Be Different — Your Home Should Be Too.”**

A house isn’t a status symbol.
It’s an extension of your life.

And your life isn’t meant to look like someone else’s study guide.

Your test paper is yours alone — your story, your budget, your comfort, your needs, your desires, your energy.

When you stop trying to copy someone else’s answers, the right home doesn’t just appear…

It becomes obvious.
